Atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia utilizing left posteroseptal accessory pathway (AP). After successful radiofrequency ablation, there was no evidence of (AP) conduction during a 1 h waiting period. However, administration of adenosine resulted in transient resumption of the AP conduction. We discuss the mechanism of action and the role of adenosine in unmasking dormant conduction. A 19-year-old with supraventricular tachycardia was referred for an electrophysiology study (EPS). Delta waves were absent on all preprocedural electrocardiograms. The HV interval was 36 ms and ventriculoatrial (VA) conduction non-decremental. Orthodromic atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia utilizing a left-septal accessory pathway (AP) was diagnosed and radiofrequency (RF) energy delivered at

Radiofrequency catheter ablation in the treatment of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

Introduction: Tachyarrhythmias in Wolf Parkinson White (WPW) syndrome, can be a life threatening factor. Antiarrhythmic drug therapy in this syndrome, has not been completely acceptable. Efficacy, safety and economy of Radio Frequency Catheter Ablation (RFCA) in western studies, has made it as the treatment of choice. In the present study, efficacy of RFCA in the ablation of accessory pathway...

Site of accessory pathway block after radiofrequency catheter ablation in patients with the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

INTRODUCTION Recent studies have demonstrated that the most common site of accessory pathway conduction block following the introduction of a premature atrial stimulus during atrial pacing is between the accessory pathway potential and the ventricular electrogram, consistent with block at the ventricular insertion of the accessory pathway. However, no prior study has evaluated the site of condu...

Adenosine mapping for adenosine-dependent accessory pathway ablation.

BACKGROUND This study describes the use of adenosine during ablation procedures to allow conduction through adenosine-dependent accessory pathways (APs), which are inactive at the time of the procedure. The technique allows for successful mapping and ablation of these pathways. METHODS Retrospective review of all patients undergoing AP ablation from 1998 to 2008 to identify patients with abse...

Radiofrequency ablation therapy in concealed left free wall accessory pathway with decremental conduction.

An electrophysiologic study followed by transcatheter radiofrequency ablation therapy was performed in two adult patients with a permanent form of junctional tachycardia. Both patients had no structural heart disease and exhibited a normal resting ECG. The P wave during tachycardia was negative in leads 1, 3, and aVF, biphasic over V6, and positive in V1 and aVL in both patients, while the P-R/...

Radiofrequency endocardial catheter ablation of accessory atrioventricular pathway atrial insertion sites.

BACKGROUND High rates of success using radiofrequency ablation energy have rapidly transformed catheter ablation from an investigational procedure to the nonpharmacological therapy of choice for symptomatic Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Prior studies of radiofrequency accessory pathway ablation were based on a ventricular approach. Risks associated with prolonged arterial catheter manipulatio...
